'The Score' - Cast

Cast

  • Josh Costello – Main Character (Danny Baker)

I have chosen Josh Costello as my main character because, I know that he has a high standard of acting ability and experience, he is the relevant age (17) and he also already speaks with the language and accents that I will be using in my script.

I will have him wear branded joggers and hoodie to show that he has money (through crime) but, he is not in good circumstances and his casual attire shows a lack of motivation to lead the right path.

  1. Rough up-bringing
  2. Brought up by only his dad
  3. Dad didn't have very much money
  4. Had to commit crime to be able to afford things
  5. In to lots of drugs (but not an addict) - no drug use shown in the film

  • Josh Huggins – Friend helping with heist (Jake)
I have chosen Josh huggins to play Jake because, I know him to be confident and i believe he will be able to bring this character, who has had a good up-bringing and chose to resort to crime rather than making an honest living, to life because, the way in which he acts and speaks is very similar to Josh in real life therefore, acting experience and ability aren't of the upmost importance.
I will have him wear a similar type of clothing to Danny however, his clothes will be much more stylish, expensive and neat, this will show that Jake cares more about what people think of him, rather than how he wants to appear.

  1. Good up-bringing
  2. Parents have a good marriage
  3. Parents have money (Not wealthy but enough money to live comfortably)
  4. Best friends with Danny from a young age
  5. Danny got him involved with rough people and gangs
  6. He fears getting caught for crimes
  7. He is very smart so always wants to plan (Doesn't show that he is smart to Danny)

  • Mike Collins – Friend helping with heist (Mikey)
I have chosen Mike Collins because, he has a good, large build which will go with this characters 'hard man' reputation. I believe his acting ability isn't something that will affect my short film because, as with all my other actors, i have chosen people who act and speak very similar to their characters, this means that they won't have too much trouble fitting naturally in to their characters.
I will have him wear very cheap, unbranded clothing because, i want it to appear as though he is struggling for money, he is a 17 year old orphan with no job therefore, he won't be able to afford nice clothes.

  1. Orphan
  2. Constantly moving from home-to-home
  3. Sees Jake and Danny as his true brothers
  4. Lives with Jake (temporarily)
  5. Been a boxer all his life-extremely feared around his area
  6. Commits crime for fun rather than what he gains
  7. Was extremely close with Luke, however resents him for snitching on Danny

  • Dom Kilbane - Danny's brother (Luke Baker) AKA- L.B
I have chosen Dom because, i wanted someone older than my main characters but not too much older (19-24) and he fits this age group. He has a very large build with broad shoulders, which is exactly how i imagined Luke to be originally. He has some acting experience but will need some guidance as to what to do, this does not worry me because, i know how to direct an actor in the correct way, as i have experience in being directed as an actor, and i know what works and what doesn't.
I will have him wear TAPOUT joggers (MMA branded joggers) to show that he does MMA, when he is first seen he will have a bag with cloves and other things that would be seen in an MMA fighters bag to show that he is invloved in fighting.

  1. Same up-bringing as Danny
  2. Resorted to crime, but changed his life around when he discovered MMA
  3. Became an accomplished amateur MMA fighter
  4. Extremely feared around his area

  1. NJO - Good ideas for characterisation. Next step for characters = take pictures of your actors and decide on performance and mise-en-scene elements such as dialect, costume, colour, lighting that you will use to demonstrate the character.
